April Lockhart

April Lockhart was born on July 4th, 1995. When she was in the seventh grade, she started playing guitar and taking piano lessons, sparking her love for songwriting. When she was 12 years old, April wrote her first song Different. At 14 years old, April was spending a lot of time writing lyrics and perfecting her musicianship skills. Over the next few months, she began taking notes along with her father on trips to LA in addition to NY. April also began to include other related topics for some of her peers who are dealing with such things as peer pressure disabilities and even teens who commit suicide through the songs Take my Hand. Lockhart is a lifestyle and beauty influencer who has a growing following. She is a partner with the popular brand Ilia together, as well as being a specialist in lifestyle. The truth is that she was born with no left hand and that creates her unique. However, this isn't the only thing about her. Lockhart's profile on Instagram doesn't cover up her disability, but it does not just focus on her disability. What's the message? It is important to remember that we all have many faces, our identities vary and we're much beyond our body. Lockhart stated in a video interview that she does not want to be defined by her handicap. She does not want to become an advocate for disabled people who only talks about that. There are many aspects of Lockhart. My day-today life is not dependent on it. I live my normal daily life, and come up with my own solutions to issues. It's also part of me and I feel it's important to talk about. Lockhart who is an source of inspiration for anyone who wants to be self-accepting she is on a long road to reach this. She admits that she has gone through phases of insecurity with her body and feeling uncomfortable in certain clothes which showed her arms. She now wears whatever she'd like. and she shares her pictures to social media. Self-love, she says, is a process. "I do not think that you will ever be there," she said. This is a process, and I don't think you ever reach your destination. The people you surround yourself with, who know you and see through your eyes are the ones you should be relying on who can remind you of the things you're worrying about.
