Katherine Heigl has opened up about how she was raised in an environment that was a "white bubble" and how this realization has affected how she parents her adopted multiracial children. She was in the movie "Firefly Lane" spoke to the media that it was not important how dark her skin color was to her. However, after meeting her Korean-American adopted sister, she noticed the differences in the way people were treated by her. "I inquired of my sister, Meg whether she'd received the same treatment when she went walking around with our parents, and another way when she went out alone without them. Meg replied "Oh I do, each and every time!" Heigl said to Parents, "That made me realise how foolish I was." She said that she was angry and felt that it was important to focus the anger she felt on her adopted daughters. Heigl is the mother of a 4-year-old son and a 13-year-old spouse, Josh Kelley. Their child Nancy Leigh was adopted from South Korea by the couple in 2009. Adalaide is a Black 8-year old girl that they adopted in 2012.
