Audrey Tautou

Audrey Tautou was born in Beaumont in the French city of Puy-de Domme on 8 August 1976. She was eldest among four kids. She was encouraged by her parents, dentist and teacher and both of them were teachers. They encouraged her to follow her love of theatre. It was in stark contrast with her previous desire to become a primateologist because she was a fan of monkeys. As a young woman the rise to fame was rapid and marked with the beginning of her successes. Following her graduation and acting, she appeared on the French television show that scouts talent Jeunes Premiers which was backed by Canal+. She won the award for the best young Actress award at Beziers Festival of Young Actors and began her career as an actress. Tautou studied at Institut Catholique de Paris, attended church when she was a child and was educated Catholic. She is now separating herself from her Catholic upbringing. Alongside her acting career, Tautou pursued modelling and was the model in the advertising campaign for L'Oreal Mont Blanc as well as Chanel. A keen photographer, she produced a recent exhibition at The Arles International Festival that was titled Superficial. Her work is focused on celebrities and the fame. Also, it features a series self-portraits and a focus on journalists that have scrutinised Tautou since her meteoric popularity following Amelie. Audrey Tautou rose to fame and stardom with her major role in Le Fabuleux Destin d'Amelie Poulain. Amelie gained international attention for its box office success. It also received praise at awards ceremonies across the world. Amelie is the most successful French-language film in the US. Following this success Tautou starred in a wide range of film productions ranging that ranged from British dramatics like Stephen Knight's Dirty Pretty Things to Jean-Pierre Jeunet's Long Sunday of fiancailles. She then moved to Hollywood through Ron Howard's direction of The Da Vinci Code, a Dan Brown bestseller The Da Vinci Code alongside Tom Hanks.
